The Height of safety
Austral Bricks is a renowned building products brand with over 100 years of brickmaking history and over 1200 staff across Australia and New Zealand. Our client needed safe & compliant access to box gutters and ventilator areas for regular cleaning & inspection on 2 of their manufacturing plants.
Our clients’ expectations were for an effective solution that not only complies with the Australian Standards, but also conforms to their own internal safety procedures and protocols when working at heights. Anchor safe was the preferred supplier due to our proven track record in providing height safety solutions for the builder and roofing contractor.
A site inspection and report was carried out to ensure that Anchor Safe had a thorough understanding of the project needs, taking into account the unique roof profile of the site. Our experts worked closely with Ampelite Australia and Kattsafe to design a fixing method for all proposed fall prevention systems on the Webglass roof sheeting to ensure the best result was delivered to the client and expectations were met.
Delivering results from top to bottom
A solution design was then proposed offering a roof safety system that suited the webglass roof profile and needs of the associated contractors and client, this included getting signed documentation from manufacturers of the webglass roof sheeting and manufacturers of the fall prevention systems that were getting fixed to the sheeting. To ensure our solution suited our clients own safety protocols, our height safety experts designed a system that allowed for the total restraint of any worker when on the roof, eliminating almost every fall risk. This included self closing gates, entry platforms and a designated safe path of access across the roof while connected to a static line.
Anchor Safe kept the project transparent for our client to openly see what stage the project was at, at all times. With the ability to work in with principal contractors, our client was at ease knowing the project would be managed with total compliance.
The comprehensive system our Sydney team installed included 1.3km of static line to allow safe access to the box cutters for cleaning and maintenance, Aluminium Walkway with guardrail both sides to minimize roof damage due to traffic and to ensure a safe path of access across the roof, Skylight protection was installed alongside the static line system & 3 cage ladder systems and landing platforms were installed to allow for safe access up to the roof and in between roof levels.
Anchor Safe’s full-service approach gave our client peace of mind knowing that employees are safe, risks are minimised, and responsibilities are met. Our client has real time access to online asset registers and receives timely reminders for re-certification and maintenance. We also provided peace-of-mind with a ten-year warranty on all systems installed.
