Parramatta District Court, the largest trial court in Australia, boasts a high energy-efficient design, earning a 5-star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating. The cooling tower systems are crucial to maintaining this energy efficiency. Without efficient access for regular cleaning and maintenance, the risk of the building’s rating declining increases significantly, along with the potential for reduced energy performance and a heightened risk of Legionnaires’ disease. The Anchor Safe team designed, supplied and installed a safe access system to ensure the site upheld all energy ratings and ensured the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the law courts.
Delivering results from top to bottom
The system featured an elevated platform integrated with an angled cage ladder, providing safe access to all three cooling towers from a single-entry point. Self-closing gates were installed on the platform and guardrail system, ensuring secure entry and exit to the vents. The use of lightweight, non-corrosive aluminium components ensures minimal maintenance and superior durability, while mill-finished aluminium mesh provides maximum grip, even in slippery conditions.
With a comprehensive understanding of the tasks regularly performed, the Anchor Safe team designed a unique system that maximizes safety and enhances the efficiency of the cleaning and maintenance process. By eliminating the need for harness-based systems, maintenance personnel can work more freely and confidently, knowing that all fall risks have been effectively mitigated.
The cooling tower access system at Parramatta District Court is engineered for a minimum 50-year design lifespan, with up to 10 years of warranty, ensuring long-term reliability and safety.
