Transforming 13 Acres of Roof Space Charlestown Square

The height of safety

Our client is a leading property group that owns and manages a $32.4 billion portfolio of high-quality Australian office, logistics and retail assets. Our client requested a height safety audit on one of their large shopping centers to ensure the site was up to date with industry standards and remained a safe working environment for all employees & subcontractors. Over the past few years there has been numerous changes within the industry and our client required industry leaders like Anchor Safe to ensure their height safety systems were compliant & up to date with the relevant Australian standards. Our client expected a long-term solution to their height safety systems and chose Anchor Safe as their preferred height safety provider due to previous experience on other property portfolios.

Delivering results from top to bottom.

Our auditing team first conducted height safety inspection reports to determine the status of the height safety systems across the entire roof space which spanned approximately 13 acres. The site was split into 3 main areas to ensure our team could effectively inspect the current height safety systems and any active fall edges. We then designed, supplied & installed a tailored height safety solution that ensured the entire roof space was updated to the current Australian standards. High priority non-compliances were addressed immediately such as live fall edges, unprotected skylights, out of pendulum anchor points and static line systems with mixed manufacturers. Our height safety technicians installed a total of:

  • 138 Anchors
  • 72 metres of guardrail on all active fall edges
  • 70+ metres of walkway to minimize roof damage and outline a safe path of access across the roof.
  • 27 parapet ladders to ensure a safe path of access across the roof
  • 10 static line systems to enable subcontractors to safely clean the gutters around the main shopping center
  • 11 caged ladders for safe access to various levels of the roof space
  • 64 skylight protection warning signs near transparent roof sheeting.

Our client was involved in the entire process from the initial design through to the installation schedule and on-going recertification. Our total care approach to height safety allows Anchor Safe to have long term relationships built on trust with each and every one of our clients and in this case it was no different. Now with the added fall protection systems on this large shopping center, the efficiency of access has been greatly increased for all contractors & employees, ensuring all those that access the roof have the assurance of a safe working environment.
