Smart Height Safety for TAFE NSW Illawarra Illawarra

The height of safety

TAFE NSW Illawarra is the leading provider of vocational education and training over 14 locations in the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and South Coast regions. The organisation had previously commissioned a campus review that involved inspection of all buildings across their campuses. The report addressed the current height safety systems already in use, along with recommendations for buildings that required new and improved height safety systems.  The buildings varied greatly in size, height and roof type.

Delivering results from top to bottom

Across a three-stage tender process, Anchor Safe was chosen:

  • to upgrade current height safety systems
  • for new system installation and recertification of selected buildings (urgently requiring safe roof access) to ensure compliance with relevant Australian height safety standards.

Anchor Safe’s comprehensive solution involved the design, delivery and installation of suitable height safety systems across all campuses. Crucially, we also delivered height safety training, a full asset list of the height safety equipment installed, and a review of safe access methods to buildings.

The safety system we installed required tailored fabrication of some products, such as access doors. For some buildings, we provided specialised equipment that allowed for ground access rather than roof access – removing associated risks for contractors and staff.

Regular, open communication and site visits ensured the client was continually updated with progress and milestones. They were delighted with results that not only boosted safety but also injected budget savings.

Overall, Anchor Safe’s full service provides the confidence that TAFE NSW Illawarra’s employees and contractors are safe, risks are minimised and responsibilities are met.
