Anchor Safe are thrilled to be involved in keeping workers safe within the everyday operations of the famous Snowy Hydro Power Stations. Snowy Hydro has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for nearly 70 years and is described as one of the civil engineering wonders of the modern world. Consisting of 9 power stations, 16 dams, 80 kilometres of aqueducts and 145 kilometres of interconnected tunnels.

We were privileged enough to supply and install a unique safety system for the 3^rd largest power station within the Snowy Hydro Scheme – Murray 2.

Delivering results from top to bottom

Our height safety specialists began the solution design process, starting with a thorough analysis of the facility and existing safety systems, concluding with recommendations on how to improve existing systems and what systems needed replacing. Our detailed and professional approach gave our client the confidence to move ahead with our recommendations.

Our solution included supply and installation of retrofitted lifelines to existing curved ladders around the penstock pipes. The operator is connected to the vertical line fall arrest system via the arresta shuttle using a full body harness and lanyard assembly. This system supports the operator when maintaining the penstock pipes which deliver water flow to the hydro turbines, eliminating the risk of free fall and fortifying the access route for future maintenance workers.

We worked collaboratively with the contractors and facility managers to ensure the project was delivered with our customary care and quality work, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
