H.J. Heinz Co. Australia Ltd, operating locally through brands like Golden Circle, is a leading food manufacturer and processor. Producing packaged fruit, vegetables, beverages, and condiments for the Australian market as part of the global Kraft Heinz Company portfolio, the client operates three major manufacturing sites across Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales. Like many older facilities, critical maintenance areas were difficult to reach, exposing workers to unnecessary risk. With high-volume production facilities and complex rooftop infrastructure, safe and compliant access for maintenance teams was a critical requirement.
Accessing roof gutters and essential plant equipment had become a serious safety and operational issue due to steep roof pitches and a lack of compliant access systems. Anchor Safe was engaged to provide tailored access solutions, ensuring safe travel over skylights, steep slopes, and void zones while allowing maintenance staff to efficiently reach air-conditioning units, gutters, and other rooftop plant. Delivering results from top to bottom
Anchor Safe designed, supplied, and installed custom aluminium stairs, extensive walkway and guardrail systems across the facilities. A combined total of 1,206m of guardrail and walkways, three mini ladders, a custom staircase, and multiple platforms for safe access to air-conditioning units, all compliant with Australian safety standards. The system allows maintenance personnel to safely traverse steep roofs, gutters, and void zones, reducing fall risks and in some cases eliminating the risk of falls from height. Anchor Safe worked closely with the client on inspections, hazard assessments, and approvals, coordinating installation to minimise disruption. The entire project was delivered within 12 weeks.
The completed system provides safe, fit for purpose walkways and platforms, saving time, lowering risk, and streamlining maintenance while improving day-to-day efficiency. Maintenance teams can now access gutters and rooftop equipment safely, with ongoing benefits including a safer working environment, full compliance with safety standards, faster maintenance, and reduced long-term risk.
